Breakfast Club |
| |
|
| |
The response to an earlier start to the school day has been
overwhelmingly in favour. Governors will make a decision on
Thursday February 2nd. One of the main concerns regarding an
earlier start, was child care at the start of the day. I have
been in contact with the Local Education Authority regarding the
setting up of a “Breakfast Club”. If there is sufficient
interest, a club could be set up that pupils could arrive at from
8:10am onwards to be breakfasted and supervised. Due to grant aid,
provision would be free for the foreseeable future. If you feel
that this may be of interest to you, would you please attend the
meeting below:

School Meals |
| |
|
| |
I have been impressed by the quality of school meals since the
introduction of new menus. I realise that many parents will be
unaware of these changes. So that parents may have the
opportunity to judge for themselves I have asked a representative
of the school meals service to give a presentation at the above
meeting. As well as an explanation of the new menus, there will
be an opportunity to actually sample some of the food. I have
taken some photos of recent meals and you can view these
below.
The link below will take you to an excellent
Caerphilly website with lots more information.

Please try and attend the above meeting—I think that you will be
pleasantly surprised at the changes.

Jewellery
|
| |
Since Christmas I have noticed a growing number of children
wearing jewellery to school. Our school prospectus has always
stated, that other than watches and ear studs, jewellery must not
be worn to school. We are certainly not alone in this rule —
local secondary schools have, if anything even tighter regulations
on the wearing of jewellery. I am asking you to support us in
upholding this rule as it exists predominantly in the interests
of pupils safety. Children wearing jewellery other than studs or
watches will be asked to remove them as they enter class.

Timing of the School Day
|
| |
Following consultations with parents and staff, the governors of
the school have agreed to change the timing of the school day to
that recently proposed. From September, school will start at
8:45am and end at 3:00pm.
